This is a very unique vintage Lord Elgin, in that although Elgin is an American company, this wristwatch uses a Swiss movement! This is a rare find in beautiful condition and was produced between 1955 and 1963. The reference number is 2823 and is named Lord Elgin "25" X.
The dial is a very clean silver dial with an eye-catching sunburst. The indices are slender gold sticks, with the indices at 3, 6, 9, 12 being slender arrows. The hour and minute hands are dauphine-style, and the sweep second is a very thin stick hand. The dial is marked Lord Elgin, 25, and Selfwinding, and is cased in a 33.8mm round 10K Rolled Gold Plate bezel, lugs and case back.
The Swiss-made automatic movement features a Grade 884 on Base AS 1673. It has 25 jewels and runs great!
It comes with an 18.5mm NOS brown leather two-piece strap with a gold buckle. It gently tapers to 12.6 at the buckle holes. It is marked Genuine Calf and Majestic.
This is a very attractive, rare Lord Elgin automatic wristwatch in great condition that would be at home either in a well-cared-for collection or on one's wrist!
