Watch Overview
This is a vintage Caravelle Set-O-Matic Dual-Day Automatic, dating from 1976 and made in Switzerland. Featuring a bold tonneau-shaped case and a rich black dial, this watch perfectly combines classic 1970s style with rugged dive functionality. It’s still in good condition, showing some wear consistent with age and use, strong case, bezel and striking dial. Marked "666 FEET" for water resistant on the dial, earning its legendary 'Devil Diver' nickname.
It’s powered by the Caravelle 1053.50 automatic caliber (based on Citizen 8200) with 17 jewels, central hours and minutes, sweeping seconds, and a dual day/date complication at 3 o’clock. The movement is self-winding, offers a 45-hour power reserve, and runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The dial features luminous baton markers, a white minute/second track, luminous hands, and a contrasting orange sweep seconds hand for visibility in any light.
The watch is housed in a 38mm stainless steel tonneau case with a classic red-and-black uni-directional dive bezel, screw-down crown, and screw-in case back. Rated water-resistant to 666 feet (203 meters / 20 ATM), it comes on a stainless steel bracelet designed for wrists up to approx. 7 3/4" (19.7cm). Fully inspected and authenticated by our in-house watchmaker, this Caravelle Devil Diver is ready to wear. Box & Papers: Not included.

History & Legacy of Caravelle
Caravelle is a watch brand introduced in 1962 by the renowned American watchmaker Bulova, founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova in New York City. Launched as an affordable line within the Bulova family, Caravelle offered timepieces with jeweled movements at prices competitive with non-jeweled watches, making quality craftsmanship more accessible to everyday consumers. By 1968, it had become the best-selling jeweled watch brand in the United States, thanks to its balance of style, affordability, and reliability.
Designed for daily wear, Caravelle watches were embraced by a generation looking for modern design and trusted performance without the premium price tag. While rooted in Bulova’s American heritage, Caravelle timepieces have featured a variety of movement types and styles over the decades — from Swiss-made mechanical watches in the early years to contemporary quartz-driven designs. Though the line has evolved, it has consistently maintained its identity as a brand focused on practicality, style, and function.
Today, Caravelle by Bulova continues to reflect a legacy of innovation and accessible design. With a focus on creating reliable and stylish timepieces for real life, Caravelle remains a trusted name in everyday watchmaking — watches made to be worn with confidence, every day.
