1974 SEIKO - The “Blue-Eye”
Speed-Timer Chronograph
Vintage Wristwatch

Also known as the “Blue Eye”, this is one of the most cherished Seiko models from the 1970s catalogue. It is a vintage Seiko Speed-Timer chronograph automatic wristwatch, reference 6139-7069 and dated from August 1974.

It is a self-winding watch powered by an original Seiko automatic chronograph (60 seconds – 30 minutes – pillar wheel – no manual wind) movement with a sophisticated excentre self-winding mechanism with just one gear stage. It features the caliber 6139B, 17 jewels, day/date indicator (day quicksets by pushing the crown deeper, 2 languages / date quicksets by pushing the crown less deep), 45 hours power reserve, 21,600 A/h, Japan made.

This movement is similar to the Seiko caliber 139A, only a minor modification of switching mechanism (dial side).

After +49 years, this watch still has the original black dial with silver/luminous hour markers, white minute/second track, silver/luminous matching hands, white sweep second hand for the chronograph and the minute hand as well. The day/date window is located at 3 o’clock and the sub-minute dial is located at 6 o’clock. It also features an inner rotating bezel that rotates with the crown. The dial is also signed with the Seiko name/logo and "Automatic" on top.

Cased in a 40.4mm round case, all in stainless steel. Water resistant. This watch also comes in the original Seiko all stainless-steel fold over clasp bracelet, it will fit a wrist up to 6 1/2” (16.5cm).

It is a very good looking watch. Runs very well and keeps great time!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

It will be carefully packed.
