1970s NOS Glycine Compressor High Frequency Automatic Watch 344.171 Day/Date 35mm S.S. TV-Shaped Case

Offered here today is a collectible timepiece: a vintage NOS (New Old Stock) Glycine Compressor High Frequency automatic wristwatch, reference 344.171, dating from the 1970s.

This self-winding watch is powered by a Swiss automatic movement and features a sweep seconds hand and a day/date display with quick-set function. While most commonly associated with dive watches, the term was also applied more broadly by some manufacturers during the period.

The “Compressor” designation refers to a case construction concept used during the period in which water pressure helps tighten the caseback gasket, improving water resistance as depth increases.

The original brown dial is accented by applied baton hour markers, a white printed minute/second track, and matching hands. The day (in Spanish) and date display is positioned at the 3 o’clock position.

It is housed in a striking 35mm square stainless steel case. The design reflects the bold late-1960s “TV case” aesthetic.

This example remains in New Old Stock condition and is fitted with a brand-new brown two-piece leather strap.

Fully inspected and authenticated, the watch is running well and is ready to wear and enjoy.
