Watch Overview
In the 1970s, Omega employed the ESA 9162 (date complication only) and ESA 9164 (day/date complication) tuning fork movements in many of their watches. These movements are often considered the “Rolls Royce” of tuning fork movements. Designed by Max Hetzel, who had previously worked for Bulova; he was also responsible for the Accutron 214.
This is a vintage Omega Electronic F300Hz Constellation Chronometer wristwatch dated from 1970, reference CD 198.001. Also, known as the “Omega f300” – reflecting the frequency of the tuning fork.
Powered by the original Omega electronically controlled tuning fork movement caliber 1250 (ESA 9162), featuring 12 jewels, central second hand, day indicator (quickset), electrical hack feature, and Swiss made. The movement is also Licensed Bulova PAT.
Original champagne dial with baton hour markers, black minute/second track, luminous matching hands, and a black central second hand. The date window is located at 3 o’clock.
Cased in a 36mm round 14K gold filled case and stainless steel case. Original signed Omega crown and it is coming with the original Omega 14K gold filled top caps and stainless steel back bracelet.
Fully inspected and authenticated, it remains in very good vintage condition consistent with age and use. It is ready to wear and enjoy.
