Watch Overview

In the 1970s, Omega employed the ESA 9162 (date complication only) and ESA 9164 (day/date complication) tuning fork movements in many of their watches. These movements are often considered the “Rolls Royce” of tuning fork movements. Designed by Max Hetzel, who had previously worked for Bulova; he was also responsible for the Accutron 214.

Offered here today is an incredible tuning fork timepiece, dated from 1970, this is a vintage Omega Electronic F300Hz Constellation Chronometer wristwatch, reference 198.0075. Also, known as the “Omega f300” – reflecting the frequency of the tuning fork.

It is an electronic watch powered by an original Omega electronically controlled tuning fork movement caliber 1250 (ESA 9162), 12 jewels, sweep second, day indicator (quickset), electrical hack feature, unadjusted, Swiss made. The movement is also Licensed Bulova PAT.

Still has the original champagne dial with two-tone gold and black hour markers, black minute/second track, gold/luminous matching hands, and a gold-tone sweep second-hand. The date window is located at 3 o’clock and the dial is also signed with the Omega name and logo, Electronic f300Hz and Constellation Chronometer.

Cased in a 36mm round gold plated case and stainless steel case. Original signed Omega crown. It comes on a JB Champion 10K G.F. top caps and stainless steel back bracelet. Fully inspected and authenticated, it remains in very good vintage condition consistent with age and use. It is ready to wear and enjoy.
