Watch Overview
Offered here is a rare and elegant vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Wrist Alarm watch, made for the American market. Dated from 1953 based on the serial number, this is one of the earliest mechanical wristwatches to feature an alarm function.
It is a manual-winding watch, powered by the original LeCoultre Co. mechanical movement caliber 814, featuring 17 jewels with sweep-second hand and an alarm complication. This Swiss-made timepiece beats at a high frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour with an approximate 54-hour power reserve. Serviced on December 2025.
The watch boasts a two-tone silver-finish dial with a beautiful patina that speaks to its age. It features applied gold-tone Arabic numerals and hour markers, a minute/second tracks, and matching gold-tone hands. The alarm disc is subtly integrated at the center, and the dial is signed âJaeger-LeCoultre Automaticâ at the top.
Cased in a 35mm round 10K gold filled case with classic lugs design. The alarm mechanism is fully functional, and the rotating inner alarm disc allows for precise alarm setting.
It comes on a black genuine leather two-piece strap. It is in good vintage condition consistent with age and use. It is ready to wear and enjoy.
"...The alarm is set via a rotating disc with an index, allowing for highly accurate time setting while keeping the dial clean and legible. At 2 oâclock the crown performs three functions: setting the alarm, winding it, and stopping it. It also enables regulation of the alarm duration. The crown at 4 oâclock is used for setting the time and winding the movement on non-automatic models."
