This is a classic American railroad timepiece: a vintage Waltham Vanguard Railroad “Up & Down” pocket watch, produced circa 1932.

The movement features 23 jewels, size 16s, model 1908 construction, a sub-seconds register, lever-set mechanism, and an Up/Down power reserve indicator. This watch meets railroad-grade standards and is adjusted to six positions for accuracy.

The watch features a white enamel dial with bold black Arabic numerals, a clear outer minute track, a sub-seconds register at 6 o’clock, and large blued steel hands. The power reserve indicator is positioned prominently at 12 o’clock for easy legibility.

Housed in a gold-tone round case measuring approximately 49.6mm in diameter, finished in 10K rolled gold plate with engraved detailing, and fitted with an elegant bow and onion-style crown.
