We are excited to present a truly collectible and fascinating timepiece: a vintage Elgin B.W. Raymond pocket watch featuring the iconic Ferguson dial, dated from 1911.

 

The distinctive Ferguson dial design, patented by Louis Ferguson in 1908, features large, highly legible numerals for the 5-minute intervals on the main chapter ring and a smaller, red-numbered inner ring for hours.

 

This manual-wind pocket watch is powered by the original Elgin Watch Co. mechanical movement, B.W. Raymond, grade 390. It boasts 21 jewels, a lever set, and a wind indicator. This is a model 8, third generation, 18s size with an open-face design, railroad-grade precision, and adjustments for five positions and temperature. The movement includes a sub-second hand and was proudly made in the USA. Only 4,400 units of this grade and model were produced.

 

Encased in a 58.6mm round case, it features a coin-edge design on the front and an exhibition case back that allows you to admire the inner workings of the watch.

 

The original white ceramic dial presents large, bold Roman numerals for the minute markers, a red inner ring for the hour track, and large blue-steel hands for easy readability. A sub-second dial is located at the 6 o'clock position. The dial is signed with both Elgin Watch and Ferguson Dial at the top.

 

After 144 years, this pocket watch remains in excellent working condition, running smoothly and keeping accurate time.
