We present a very collectible timepiece: a vintage Washington pocket watch from 1908.

 

This manual-wind pocket watch features the original Washington Watch Co. mechanical movement manufactured by the Illinois Watch Co. It has a grade 69, includes 17 jewels, model 6, 18s, lever set and an open face design. The movement also has a sub-second hand and was crafted in the U.S.A.

 

"The watch manufacturing operation of the Washington Watch Company only produced around 50 movements in the early 1870s. With very rare exception, movements marked "Washington Watch Co." are private labels manufactured by the Illinois Watch Company for retailer Montgomery Ward & Co. These movements are additionally marked with names such as Liberty Bell, Lafayette, Potomac, Senate, Monroe, and Army & Navy."

 

The original white dial showcases bold Arabic numerals, a black minute track, and matching blue steel hands. The sub-second dial, located at 6 o’clock, has Arabic numerals marking every 10 seconds. The dial is beautifully adorned and signed with Washington Watch Co. at the top.

 

Encased in a 53.8mm round case, this pocket watch is finished in nickel, with a coin engraved design on the border. 

 

After more than 115 years, it runs smoothly and keeps excellent time!
